China becomes Russia’s largest importer of chocolate sweets in 2020

Russian Satellite News Agency, Moscow, January 22. According to data from the Russian Customs Service, the ranking of China’s imports of Russian chocolate sweets will rise to the first place in 2020.

In 2020, China imported 64,000 tons of chocolate (+30%) from Russia, amounting to US$132 million (+17%). Other major importers of Russian chocolate are Kazakhstan and Belarus.

China’s imports of flour and sugary sweets from Russia also rose to third place.

From January to December 2020, Russia exported a total of 656,000 tons of sweets, valued at more than US$1.3 billion. The export volume increased by 11% compared to 2019, and the export value increased by 3.6%.

According to data released by the General Administration of Customs of China on January 14th, from January to December 2020, the trade volume between China and Russia was US$107.765 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 2.9%. Among them, China’s exports to Russia were US$50.585 billion, a year-on-year increase of 1.7%; imports from Russia were US$57.181 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 6.6%.
